Inner Sunset, San Francisco:
The Sunset Duo creates intimate, inspiring chamber music experiences.
We met more than a decade ago at Harvard University, where we shared our love of chamber music as undergrads. Years later, we reunited in San Francisco and picked up right where we left off: our musical roots. Chamber music, we believe, is the most challenging and rewarding of musical experiences; we generate a dialogue between violin and piano where the interactions are palpable and the audience fuels the energy of the room. It's raw, it’s inspiring, it’s comforting. As the Sunset Duo, we are dedicated to sharing our passion with family, friends and the community. We hope you will join us for a concert and conversation!
REBECCA RACUSIN made her solo debut with orchestra at age 15 as the winner of the Mae and Fletcher Fish Young Artist Competition in her home state of New Jersey. Since then she has performed across the United States, Canada, and Italy in venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the National Gallery of Art. She is a member of both the Baltimore and Eclipse Chamber Orchestras, plays regularly with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and is a Principal player of GRAMMY-nominated D.C. based ensemble Inscape. She spends her summers as a performer and chamber music faculty at the Wintergreen Performing Arts Festival and Academy in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. Ms. Racusin received her B.A. from Harvard University while studying with James Buswell at the New England Conservatory and her M.M. from the University of Maryland’s School of Music where she held a graduate assistantship under the tutelage of Elisabeth Adkins.
JESSICA KINLOCH started the piano at the age of six, and has won numerous awards, in both chamber and solo music. She was invited to perform at the prestigious Sarasota Music Festival, the Russian Symposium, the ASTA Chamber Music Institute, and the Aspen Music Festival. Ms. Kinloch was the President of the Harvard Piano Society, performing Beethoven’s Triple Concerto with the Bach Society Orchestra, among many other concerts. She has won a number of solo awards for her interpretations of Bach, Mozart, Chopin and Bartok. Her teachers have included Patricia Zander at the New England Conservatory, Robert Levin at Harvard, and George Barth at Stanford. Ms. Kinloch has a B.A. in History from Harvard and a M.A. in International Policy Studies at Stanford.
CHAMBER MUSIC IN AN
Our labor of love is unquestionably rooted in our Recital Series. It takes place five times a year in a historic home in the inner Sunset district of San Francisco. Built in the late 1890s, the living room combines the architect's passion for shipbuilding with the best of Victorian architecture. The carved redwood walls provide a warm atmosphere and exceptional acoustics. It is a perfect place to listen to the give-and-take of chamber music.
Because of its limited capacity, the Sunset Recital Series is invite-only. Please contact us if you would like to attend.
